I just won an Award for Distinction in the Colored Pencil Society of America international competition. It was a fun night at the gala to meet so many artists in person whom I’ve known on social media for many years. The convention was held in Safety Harbor, Tampa area, Florida this year.
Out of two entries I submitted, one was accepted to win this award. It’s titled the Omnipresent Mind. I know that many people may not understand my work because it doesn’t have familiar subjects. It happens because I “construct” my pieces out of many elements to illustrate ideas, concepts and feelings.
This colored pencil drawing illustrates my idea of balance between human mind and higher consciousness. The star of David shown in the center is often associated with the Jewish star. However, this symbol’s true meaning goes back to antiquity. While it was a protector symbol for David on his shield, the reason I put it into my drawing is to show a perfect balance ( of earth, air, fire and water). Two identical male portraits represent balance between humanity and higher consciousness and consciousness and existence expressed through human beings.

This colored pencil drawing ships flat from my studio in Naples, Florida via FedEx ground or other requested service. The artwork ships within a week after receiving payment in full. If it requires framing, please allow for additional 4-week turnaround. Payment plans are available.
