When we watch movies about artists we usually encounter some grumpy genius who after trials and tribulations produces a masterpiece and everyone is at owe. Artists can be idealized and we can see the paradigm of artist’s thinking or style.
The truth about being an artist is that there is lots of failure, super hard work, and sometimes months spent figuring stuff out how to do one thing right. Working and working and working… Totally not romantic  or inspiring. The grind is. But the ability to produce something beautiful out of ‘thin air” that’s called Art can define the artist, era, and even create a social change or generational shift in culture.
A lot of my art that I produced over the years was a reflection of my search for Self and the lack of belonging. Now it’s transforming to become more about connection to oneself or the source to express this powerful relation between humans and the universe. This portrait painting is a manifestation of the Divine existing in all of us. I used some classical elements like a round halo and idealized facial features to express the divine presence in all of us. There is a visual play between two opposing colors-yellow and blue with shiny silver adding interest and beauty to this oil painting. Silver leafing is a laborious process that requires skill and patience.
