Celestial love is surreal oil painting I created during the COVID lockdown. It’s quite different from my other images because I played with textures and surfaces painting it in a more crude way than usual. It turned from light to dark over the 50 days of lockdown… I wanted to depict a couple symbolizing the universal love for quite some time but I couldn’t find two people posing for me. So Pixabay came to the rescue where I found the models I was searching for…And that’s how I began working on it.

Gold is the element of God’s creation. It’s a symbol of love, illumination, abundance and passion. I used gold acrylic paint to create parts of the background that reflect the color. Wings don’t grow from people’s backs, rather they’re a part of the spirit or the heart seen in the middle of the painting. I like how this play of black and gold was used in Spanish art and I brought this idea into my painting.
