Cleopatra VII (born in 69 B.C.) was of Greek nationality to become the last Egyptian pharaoh. Famous for her beauty and love affairs with Roman rulers-Ceasar and Mark Antony, she was smart and strategic to create military alliances to keep her rule over Egypt. She spoke several languages and made her country prosper.¬†After her second husband’s defeat she had to commit a suicide by the snake poisoning at the age of 39. After the death of Cleopatra, Egypt became a Roman province.

I find Cleopatra’s tragic story inspirational because despite her youth she was both clever and determined to figure out her ways to stay in power. This oil painting represents the last queen of Egypt at the peak of her beauty and achievement.
